AuxMeta

Most websites leak organic traffic silently. A misconfigured robots.txt blocks an entire section from Google. A slow LCP score quietly drops a product page from position 4 to position 11. A duplicate title tag confuses crawlers into splitting ranking signals. None of these show up in your analytics — they simply don't send traffic.

AuxMeta was built to surface exactly these problems — automatically, continuously, and without needing an SEO agency on retainer. This guide walks you through how to get your first site monitored, how to interpret what AuxMeta finds, and how to use every major feature to push your rankings up.

Step 1 — Connect Your First Website

After signing up (no credit card required), head to your AuxMeta dashboard and click 'Add Site'. Enter your domain — including the protocol (https://). AuxMeta validates the URL and immediately queues a lightweight discovery crawl to map out your site's structure.

Within two minutes you'll see an overview card for your site showing the number of pages discovered, any immediate critical errors (5xx responses, noindex on key pages, missing sitemaps), and your current Core Web Vitals snapshot.

Tip: connect Google Search Console during onboarding. AuxMeta pulls your existing keyword and click data from GSC so your first report arrives pre-populated with real traffic context — not just crawl data in isolation.

Step 2 — Run a Full Crawl and Read Your Audit Report

A discovery crawl maps URLs — a full crawl goes deep. From the Sites panel, select your site and click 'Start Crawl'. Choose between Light (fast, checks status codes + on-page signals) and Deep (full render, checks JavaScript-rendered content, Core Web Vitals, structured data). For most sites, run Light weekly and Deep monthly.

When the crawl finishes, AuxMeta generates a prioritized Issues list. Each issue is categorized by severity — Critical (crawl blockers, 5xx errors, noindex on important pages), High (missing title tags, broken internal links, duplicate content), Medium (thin content, missing alt text, slow pages), and Low (minor optimizations).

Start with Critical issues. A single noindex tag accidentally left on a product category page can remove hundreds of URLs from Google's index overnight. AuxMeta shows you the exact URL, the conflicting directive, and a one-line fix.

  • Critical — Fix immediately. These block Google from indexing or ranking your pages.
  • High — Fix within the week. Directly suppressing rankings or click-through rates.
  • Medium — Schedule for the next sprint. Real impact, not emergencies.
  • Low — Batch fix when convenient. Marginal gains that add up over time.

Step 3 — Generate and Submit Your XML Sitemap

AuxMeta's Sitemap Generator builds a clean, submission-ready sitemap.xml from your crawl data. Unlike auto-generated sitemaps from CMS plugins, AuxMeta's generator only includes canonicalized, indexable URLs — no redirect chains, no noindex pages, no paginated duplicates that waste crawl budget.

Once generated, copy the sitemap URL or download the file and submit it directly in Google Search Console under Indexing → Sitemaps. AuxMeta then monitors the sitemap on every subsequent crawl, alerting you when new pages are missing or when previously included URLs start returning errors.

Step 4 — Configure Your Robots.txt

The Robots.txt Generator removes the guesswork from one of SEO's most dangerous files. A single misplaced Disallow rule can block Googlebot from your entire site. AuxMeta provides a visual rule builder — select which bots to target, which paths to allow or disallow, and it outputs a validated robots.txt you can deploy immediately.

After deployment, AuxMeta cross-references your robots.txt against your sitemap and your crawl data. If a URL in your sitemap is also blocked by robots.txt, you get an immediate conflict alert — because that contradiction confuses crawlers and quietly prevents indexing.

Step 5 — Let AI Surface Your Content Gaps

Once your technical foundation is solid, the next lever is content. AuxMeta's AI SEO Suggestions analyzes your crawled pages against real search intent data and identifies two types of opportunities: pages that rank on page 2 or 3 for valuable keywords (quick wins from content improvements) and topic clusters your site hasn't addressed at all (net-new content opportunities).

For each suggestion, AuxMeta provides the target keyword, estimated monthly search volume, the current best-performing page for that keyword on your site (if any), and a specific content brief: what to add, what to rewrite, and which internal links to add to consolidate authority.

This is where AuxMeta shifts from reactive (fixing problems) to proactive (capturing traffic you don't have yet). Teams that act on three to five AI suggestions per month consistently see compounding ranking gains within 60 to 90 days.

Step 6 — Set Up Monitoring and Alerts

SEO is never done. Pages break, deployments introduce new issues, and competitors publish content targeting your keywords. AuxMeta's monitoring layer watches your site between crawls so problems are caught within hours, not after your next quarterly audit.

Scheduled Crawling (Pro and above) runs full crawls automatically — daily, weekly, or monthly depending on how fast your site changes. URL Monitoring watches specific high-value pages for status code changes, title changes, or content diffs and fires an alert the moment something unexpected happens.

Alerts are delivered via email or SMS. Configure thresholds per site: notify me if any page returns a 5xx error, if Core Web Vitals drop below passing, or if a new noindex tag appears on any URL that was previously indexable.

  • URL Monitoring — watch critical pages for status, title, and content changes
  • Error Alerts — instant notification for 404 / 5xx pages
  • Core Web Vitals Alerts — get notified when LCP, INP, or CLS drops below threshold
  • Sitemap Alerts — detect missing or broken URLs in your sitemap
  • Competitor Alerts — track when competitors move on keywords you own

Step 7 — Share Reports with Your Team

AuxMeta's Reports section compiles everything — crawl history, issue trends, Core Web Vitals over time, keyword position movements, and AI suggestion outcomes — into shareable reports. Export as CSV or JSON for custom analysis, or share a live report link with stakeholders who don't need dashboard access.

For agencies managing multiple client sites, the Team Access feature (Pro) lets up to five users collaborate under one account. Premium accounts add role-based permissions and SSO so larger organizations can give the right level of access to developers, content writers, and clients without sharing credentials.

The Compounding Effect of Consistent SEO Monitoring

The sites that win in organic search aren't the ones that do a big SEO project once a year — they're the ones that fix issues as fast as they appear and capture new opportunities before competitors do. AuxMeta is designed to make that ongoing discipline effortless: automated crawls surface new issues, AI suggestions surface new opportunities, and alerts make sure nothing slips through between audits.
